What hospitals actually charge — by insurance type

HospitalPriceGrid reads the machine-readable price files that US hospitals are federally required to publish (45 CFR §180), verifies which hospital each file really belongs to, and shows the negotiated rates side by side: PPO vs HMO vs Medicare Advantage vs cash — with the federal Medicare rate as a baseline.

Why this exists

Most price tools show estimates or averages. Hospital price files contain the actual contract rates — but they are huge, inconsistent, and about 30% of published file links point to the wrong hospital. We verify file identity against federal registries before showing anything. Read the methodology.
